Walmart Capital One Mastercard Credit Card

Capital One and Walmart have combined powers to give birth to the brand spanking new Capital One Walmart Rewards Credit Card Program which comes with 2 new credit cards.

The two cards are entitled Capital One Walmart Rewards Mastercard and the Walmart Rewards Card.

Both cards can be accessed at www.walmart.capitalone.com.

The Capital One Walmart Rewards Mastercard is the program’s signature co-branded card while the Walmart Rewards Card is a private-label card exclusively for Walmart purchases.

Both cards are available now at www.walmart.com/cp/walmart-credit-card.

Walmart.Capitalone.com FAQ

  • If you already have a Capital One account simply sign in
  • If you do not have a Capital One account you will have to set one up (click on the “set up my account” tab
  • In order to set up an account, you will have to provide your name, SSN or bank account number, and date of birth
  • Synchrony Bank will issue a statement credit for the rewards you earned as part of your account transitioning to Capital One

  • 1% back on purchases everywhere else Mastercard is accepted

Walmart Rewards Card Pros & Cons

  • Ideal for consumers who primarily shop at Walmart
  • 5% back on purchases made at Walmart.com or the Walmart app, including Grocery Pickup and Delivery
  • 2% back on purchases made at Walmart stores in the United States and Puerto Rico, and at Walmart and Murphy USA gas stations
  • 2% back on the purchase of gift cards at Walmart (online, app, Walmart Pay or in stores)

As you can see the major difference between the two cards is the “2% back on purchases at restaurants, travel purchases, and purchases made at Walmart stores in the United States and Puerto Rico, and at Walmart and Murphy USA gas stations”.

The Capital One Walmart Rewards Mastercard includes the above mentioned 2% back while the Walmart rewards credit card does not.

Please note rewards will not be applied on credit plans, lottery tickets, Quick Cash and the purchase of prepaid debit cards or financial products and services at Walmart.

Final Verdict

We would consider the Capital One Walmart Rewards Mastercard as benefits associated with this card are plentiful.

We would avoid the Walmart Rewards Card unless you are a Walmart fanboy who only shops at Walmart! 🙂
